Solar Physics Group of IAC3 Successfully Organizes a Workshop on Dynamics and Structure of Solar Prominences

The Solar Physics Group of the Institute of Applied Computinc¡g Community Code (IAC3) has successfully organized the “Second Workshop on Dynamics and Structure of Solar Prominences: 36 years later”. The conference was held on the 6th and 7th of February 2023 at Ca n’Oleo in Palma, jointly funded by the Solar Physics Group, the OSR, and the IAC3.

The event marked the second edition of the workshop, which was first held 36 years ago, also in Palma. The conference served as a celebration of the career of Prof. José Luis Ballester, an emeritus professor of the Physics Department and former director of the IAC3. The conference focused on topics such as partial ionisation effects and radiation of prominences, as well as seismology of prominences.

The conference drew participants from all over the world, including esteemed foreign scientists such as Oddbjorn Envold, Jean-Claude Vial, Brigitte Schmieder, Petr Heizel, Marcel Goossens, and Temury Zaqarashvili. The event was considered a success, with many attendees citing the high-quality presentations and discussions as highlights of the conference.
