Tittle: Modelling of gravitational waves from binary black-hole coalescences
Abstract:
Gravitational wave detections have become a new standard tool for astronomy, after the report of dozens of them during the last years by the LIGO and Virgo Scientific Collaborations. Currently, all the detected events are consistent with signals emitted by coalescences of compact binary systems, most of them consistent with binary black-hole systems. In order to infer the maximum amount of information about the physical properties of the sources, accurate and fast waveform models are needed to describe this general class of systems. In this talk, the status of waveform modelling for coalescing binary black-hole signals will be presented, and a new approach to model phenomenologically these signals in the time domain will be discussed in the context of the overall waveform modelling efforts.
