Gravity seminar: Shichao Wu, AEI Hannover- LISA+3G coherent multiband parameter estimation of SOBHB and IMBHB using PyCBC
November 15, 2024 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
In this talk, I will introduce the latest development of our PyCBC pipeline for LISA data analysis, focusing especially on optimizing the combination of the information from LISA and next-gen ground-based detectors for stellar/intermediate-mass binary black holes. According to the GWTC-3 population model, stellar-mass binary black holes will mostly have an SNR of less than 4, but the most state-of-art multiband parameter estimation method, such as archivally using 3G’s posterior as prior for LISA, can only get good results when LISA’s SNR above 5. We have developed a new coherent multiband parameter estimation method that can maintain the amplitude and phase consistency between LISA and 3G for the same signal, which can work robustly even when LISA’s SNR is down to 3. By using our new method, we can almost double the number of usable BBH events for LISA. Besides, I will also present the results for the latest LDC-Yorsh dataset using our new method.
