Gravity seminar : Otto Hannuksela, The Chinese University of Hong Kong — Gravitational-wave lensing
June 12 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Gravitational waves, similar to light, can be lensed by massive celestial bodies, encoding lensing signatures within their precisely modelled waveforms. Recent forecasts by several independent groups have predicted gravitational-wave lensing to become an observable reality as the current gravitational-wave detectors are upgraded. This anticipation has spurred a global effort to develop methodologies to capture the various gravitational wave signatures produced by gravitational lensing. It has furthermore expedited the development of a rich science case. In this talk, I will introduce select recent works on gravitational-wave lensing.
