Gravity Seminar: All-sky searches for continuous gravitational waves from unknown neutron stars in binary systems, Pep Blai Covas Vidal, AEI, Hannover
March 16, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Unknown neutron stars in binary systems might be one of the best sources of continuous gravitational waves (yet to be detected), due to their millisecond rotation rates, the accretion from their companion which can source the required asymmetry, and the vast unexplored parameter space. These searches are however very challenging due to the prohibitive computational cost needed to probe low deformations and a broad range of waveforms. In this talk we discuss recent results on searches and recent progress on search algorithms.
