Gravity Seminar: Gravitational Wave Merger catalog (4OGC) with open data, applications and future challenges, Sumit Kumar, AEI Hanover

Over the past few years, with the help of LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA detector network, the catalog of Gravitational Waves (GW) merger events have grown to about 90 events. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the techniques implemented to create the catalog of GW mergers, including the methods used in searches and estimating source properties. I will discuss the outcomes from the 4-OGC catalog at AEI Hannover, and compare various open catalogs by independent groups. Furthermore, I will discuss our latest efforts in incorporating non-stationary noise in the parameter estimation of GW events. This approach has shown promise in improving the pre-merger localization accuracy of signals that have undergone a non-stationary period in the detectors. I will also discuss our recent work on constraining the mass of graviton using observations of the binary neutron star system GW170817.
