Title: A generic algorithm for hybrid waveforms from compact systems.
Date: 19/07/2023
Abstract: The pipelines utilized in the detection and parameter estimation of gravitational waves heavily depend on waveform models’ ability to generate a vast number of highly precise waveforms. However, the accuracy of these models beyond the early inspiral is limited. Conversely, numerical relativity waveforms, while accurate, are computationally demanding and typically encompass only a few orbits before merger.
As the sensitivity of GW detectors continues to improve, there arises an increasing demand for longer and more accurate waveforms. Hybrid waveforms, which are constructed gluing together a model waveform and a numerical relativity waveform emerge as the most promising solution. Even though some efforts have been made, the challenge of systematically building hybrids for precessing waveforms presents a myriad of subtleties that require meticulous consideration.
In this seminar, we will delve into such obstacles, propose a robust procedure for constructing precessing hybrids, and analyze examples of its application to BBH and BHNS waveforms.
