PhD Seminar: Jesús Yébana Carrilero, Estudiant del Programa de Doctorat de Física — Bridging the gap between extreme and comparable mass ratios in black-hole binaries

State-of-the-art gravitational waveform models need input from many frameworks tackling the relativistic two-body problem. Among them are the gravitational self-force approach, which was designed to describe extreme mass ratio inspirals, weak-field approximations such as the post-Newtonian one and Numerical Relativity. We will examine the agreement of these frameworks over the parameter space of aligned-spin black-hole binaries by looking at the behaviour of gravitational-wave fluxes during the inspiral and up to the innermost stable circular orbit.
