Self-Force Calculations with a Spinning Secondary, Josh Mathews, University College Dublin

In this talk I will give a brief overview of the perturbative ‘self-force’ approach to the relativistic two-body problem and the current effort to produce gravitational waveform templates for extreme mass ratio inspirals (EMRIs). I will specialise the discussion to the effect of the spin of the secondary body in EMRI models, including the treatment of the singular field introduced by modelling the secondary as a spinning point particle. By beginning with limiting EMRI configurations, I will outline practical self-force calculations with a spinning secondary and demonstrate with the generation of EMRI waveforms and the computation of other useful perturbative quantities.
